“Read to bond, bond to read, this holds true, when we listen to the stories together”


Students of Pre School enjoyed listening to stories ‘The cat goes to school’ and ‘Hungry caterpillar’ by Valentine Trivedi. The story ‘How Zebra lost his stripes’ was narrated by parent volunteer Ms. Anupama Vohra to the students of Pre Primary during the interactive story session. Class I had a puppet story show ‘Dholu lost his Mama’ by Sumita Malik and Ekta Babbar and also played the game ‘Tail the monkey’. Students of class II were excited to listen to the story ‘The new coat of leaves’ narrated by Ms. Shweta Prakash along with creative writing. Class III students enjoyed listening to ‘The day it rained letters’ by the storyteller ‘Neel Paul’ from Hatchette followed by an activity. Class IV A students dreamt about animals throughout the story of ‘Elephant and Rat’ with a word game by Ms. Neha Gulati. Class IV B students enjoyed the session with Ms. Ambreen Raza who narrated the story ‘Bond of Love’ followed by ‘Poster Making Activity’. The students of class IV C listened to the story ‘The Boy who didn’t take bath’ narrated by parent volunteer Ms. Babita Garodia followed by a word game. Students of class V A participated actively in listening to ‘Tashi and Genie’ by Ms. Mansi Pahwa followed by a post reading activity in which the students were asked to think about the wish they wanted to be granted by the Genie. Children wrote few lines on their wish. Class VB children were thoroughly engrossed listening to the ‘Twelve Dancing Princesses’ with a poster making activity and giving a new twist to the story. This story was narrated by Ms. Anjali Bhandari. Class V C students started the session by discussing, what is a story? and what are the different forms of story telling? Ms. Lahana Kulshreshtha narrated the story “Puppies for Sale” which was followed with an activity of enacting the story in small groups with different endings. Children thoroughly enjoyed Day 1 of the Reading Week and are looking forward to having more such activities during the week.
