WHY THE ADMISSION PROCESS

Every year, The Heritage School, receives far more applications than there are seats. This forces us into a situation where we have to refuse admission to some. For the last two years we were choosing parents through a group interaction, which was again necessitated by the fact that we are following a progressive and experiential curriculum, which needed value alignment with parents. After this transitionary period we feel parents in Rohini recognize and understand what Heritage stands for and only those understanding the benefits of our philosophy would apply here.

Also in our view it is a crime to judge a 3 year old child. Each child is unique and special. There is no parameter in the world, which could judge one to be better or worse. It is the school and the parents’ responsibility to nurture the genius of each child. If we cannot do this in fourteen years then it is our own failure. For this reason, starting this year we have chosen to let parents choose us, rather than us choosing them.

WHAT WE HOPE TO ACHIEVE

We all agree that every child has an equal right to education regardless of his/her background. But we still judge children more on where they come from rather than where they could be. Schools no more stand for the kind of education they impart, but more for the socio-economic structure they represent. The diversity of our country has to first be represented in our classroom only then can the entire nation progress together. To have a healthy, progressive and challenging environment in school, it is important that the children come from a multi-cultural background. For a school to attract a specific kind of parent-group is in itself limiting for the children's growth.
