Regularity And Punctuality

“I owe all my success in life to having been always a quarter of an hour before any time”- Lord Nelson Children arriving late in school misses out on the opportunity to start their day in a relaxed and comfortable manner. This also brings about a disconnect in the child’s understanding of what has been done and what is being done. To build a strong culture of discipline in the lives of our children, it is important we realize the value of their ‘learning time’ and adhere to the school timings.

The school/we would like to emphasize on the need for keeping a check on children absenting themselves too often, irregularity and frequent absenteeism leads to a disconnect in children’s learning. There is a need to sensitize children toward the issue so as to bring about order and discipline in their routine. It is important to note that:-
  • A child should have 90% attendance to make him eligible for promotion to the next class.
  • Any student who has been absent, without a prior notice, would need to produce a letter from the parents addressed to the class teachers, stating the reason for absence. This would not only enable the teacher to be sensitive towards the need of the child, if there has been a cause of concern, but also eliminate any scope of miscommunication or the lack of it.
  • Leave for going out-of-station should be approved prior to proceeding on leave. In case of emergency, parents are requested to inform by telephone or meet the Principal and not to go to the classes directly.
  • Repeated absence without leave application, unexplained absence for more then six consecutive days renders the student admission canceled.
Assessment And Examination

Assessing children’s ideas and concepts forms an integral part of teaching. Assessment is the process of gathering information about the child’s ideas thinking skills and attitudes. The sources of gathering evidence about their performance are their actions (what the children do or say) and the products of their work (what they write, draw, make or set up). Teachers observe and identify the quality of both the process and product of children’s learning, on a daily basis, so as to be able to support and facilitate their learning by providing them with regular and need-specific feedback, rather than testing and judging only at the end of a unit. This process of on-going assessment provides children with opportunities to think and reflect about their learning, giving them scope for self evaluation.
